After Constance Fairchild has her first out of body experience, she writes the poem:
I snatched the mask from the world
And saw the face behind
Waves of living energy swirled
Play of the boundless mind
Seeing with unnatural vision
Nature’s grand design
Abolishing the illusion
Of death — and space — and time
Like a fly released from amber
My soul the moonlight chased
I took the cover off the world
It will not be replaced
