Binding and Loosing

"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

I've often thought about and studied scriptures having to do with power and authority.

For the most part, these have been appropriated by religious mythology to signify the heads of those organizations as holding right to rule. The basis for the "service to self" clan as opposed to "service to others". Also, not just in religion but in all areas of human interaction.

On a more general note, the "keys of the kingdom of heaven" simply signify, I think, the right and authority of everyone to create their own reality. The "shall have been" translation is in accord with my growing understanding that past, present, and future are indistinguishable in the expansive present.

As with many Bible verses of tenuous interpretation, these were rendered in such a way as to be consistent with (or just a little beyond) the conceptual capability of the intended audience at that time.

This should be no surprise to anyone. Seth told Jane and Rob that he spoke in such a way that he led them just beyond their current beliefs. He actually took care to build a platform first, and then later revealed things that they couldn't initially accept. Another parallel with Bible admonitions having to do with milk and solid food.

In studying Elias' sessions, particularly the private ones, it seems obvious to me that he is doing the same - that is, using their own context in interacting with them.

It makes me wonder about the state of the world. One might suppose that the vast majority are operating on the same level of beliefs as when the Bible verses (at least those I consider "inspired") were channeled.

Back to "binding and loosing" and "keys of the kingdom"

It should be obvious that the "kingdom of heaven" spoken of is simply what has been described by the different "ghosts" in different ways as the unseen dimension, or that reality just beyond the "veil".

Since a "key" opens a "door", there is a means of passage from this dimension to and from that. There are many references to these "keys" in other verses.

The "keys" are to "ask", to "seek", to "knock".

“And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened."

And it must be done fervently with persistence and emotion.

".. if .. ye shall seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou search after him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. "

And of course, the "Lord thy God" is the same as the "Father" that Jesus referred to, I believe - the same as our Greater Selves who are the caretakers of Ourselves in this chosen experience, where we interact to mold experiences that we agree(d) upon outside this current reality.

So we literally "ask" for what has already been agreed upon, "seek" what has already been granted or added to this experience, and "knock" to enter where we desire to pursue an opening which has been made for us.

Is this "predestination"?

More like scripting a play which includes a great deal of ad-libbing, I think.

I think we "bind" life events into our reality when we take action based on our fervent heart-felt desires.

And we "loose" from us those events that are unappetizing to us by turning away our attention to chosen events (not "resisting" or "fighting" that which is repugnant to us).

And we have an internal "witness" that "leads" us in the execution of the chosen script that we have co-authored.

Hi Lloyd

Nice to hear from you again with another thought provoking post!

I have often thought that some of the major religions twisted words to keep power for themselves, leading the masses into thinking that the only way to God was through them and rendering the population powerless and therefore easier to control, victims not just of circumstance but also of transgressions against God. I admit that I could be wrong as I haven't studied too much scripture and I've had very little to do with organized religion as an adult.

As with many Bible verses of tenuous interpretation, these were rendered in such a way as to be consistent with (or just a little beyond) the conceptual capability of the intended audience at that time.

Does "having ears to hear" also apply here? Or a sort of stretching people to make them think?
As a young adult I had a lot of dreams involving keys, curiously none in more recent years as a Seth reader.

I haven't come across this phrase before
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."

For myself I don't like the idea of predestination, I think we might have people to meet and themes to work with though.

To my mind this is a wonderful interpretation!

Lots of food for further thought....
