I mentioned once, on another thread, that I can't do the 'look for your beliefs' in the way that other people do because it takes me too far into my head and often into depression. I have found through trial and error that my way is to let things simmer on the backburner for a while and see what comes up.

This afternoon I had a major Aha moment when a core belief (probably the major one for me from which all others stem) made itself known.
I had an annoying and slightly worrying feeling like there was a pile of books on my chest and I couldn't breathe deeply enough for comfort. I lay down and cleared my thoughts by looking into the air rather than through it - it reminds me that life is spiritual when I see the movement and light in there - a true feeling rather than intellect. A little while later this core, absolute core, belief just came to me. I know from past experience that this belief will just naturally dissolve now. I wrote it up with a feeling of euphoria (and incredulity that I hadn't realized it before) and then realized that the heaviness had gone from my chest.

This is my way of getting to beliefs, I have to mull things over and let them come up naturally (a feeling process rather than an intellectual one) which they normally do when I'm really, really, taking some action that goes against them (and I have been these last few days)

For an interesting discussion, In practical terms, what ways do others on here 'use' or have found work for them?

Hi Max,

I'm not sure I'm getting what happened to you? You had a hmmm....an anxiety attack..not a good phrase sorry. But you were overwhelmed and physically uncomfortable and sad perhaps? Because you recognized that it was an episode that would pass..as other such experiences had... the discomfort disappeared...poof!?
As for looking at the air instead of through it...I do that all the time too! I see pixels, then tiny white specks streaking through the air. It's like looking from a distance into a windy snowfall. Sometimes it will reverse direction, right to left, than left to right. I'm hoping that I'm starting to get glimpses into other realities. My brain may be starting to open up new networks and enabling the first hint of being able to move through time.
Time is the dimension that we have believed up until now, to be out of our control! If we accept that time as merely a belief then it becomes as pliable as any of the other 3 dimensions we move through.

Seth words...
"The past exists as a series of electromagnetic connections held in the physical brain and in the nonphysical mind.

These electromagnetic connections can be changed."

"The future consists of a series of electromagnetic connections in the mind and brain also. In other words, the past and present are real to the same extent.."

Portions of the brain not used lie latent, waiting for the recognition that will trigger them into activity…. When this happens… the great… dimensions of spiritualized creaturehood will begin to flower."

Hi and thanks for replying - my mentioning of the physical feeling was simply to illustrate my body's attempt to get me to pay attention to the fact that emotion and brain were out of sync (I've had anxiety attacks in the past, many years ago and I know the difference)

The story was about uncovering a core belief, the way that works for me, sorry if I didn't explain that very well. I have found that when I take action mentally or physically that leads me into conflict with a core belief (even if I don't recognize it as such) I have to let myself mull things over for a while then the belief hits me in the face, once seen and recognized for what it is, it then dissolves naturally and I'm not left with an 'issue' to 'work' on.

I'm just wondering in practical terms what methods others have used to uncover their core beliefs.

Oh..ok...I get it. I think I'm pretty darn good at recognizing my beliefs now, and it's so much easier to get alone with others since I understand that that is all they are. There's preference in beliefs, but no right or wrong beliefs. Makes for a pretty calm life really, as nothing phases me much anymore! The only problem that I have is dropping a belief that isn't in line with my old views and people are going ...hey what?. Like left or right in politics. I used to be hard hard left...now it's hmmm whatever left right sideways... everyone's got their own preference!

If I do by chance run into someone who themselves is ranting or raging about something, I look at that as a message to ME. What is it about what they are mad about am I trying to point out to myself? Especially, eeeeeeespecially if they do manage to get me emotionally worked up in a negative way. Then whatever belief it is, really needs to be addressed, and I release it!

ANYWAY good good good for you, keep up the aha's! We could all use more of those moments!

Max,

I think I am mostly like you, although without any sort of physical heaviness or of the like, I "feel". It is not the type of feel when I touch something, or am emotional. It is a sort of "feel" that doesn't really exist physically. I have always had that. And when I have that Aha moment, which is either intentional or otherwise, it is a kind of knowing for me. Any lingering confusion dissipates, any irrelevant emotions disappear, and I feel this feeling that I can only describe as a connection. It's a sort of key to a lock, or meeting of minds or something like that. Some of these connections happen rather quickly and yet others I have been mulling around for years looking for the Aha. I have found that if I apply intellect in my looking, it tends to complicate things. If I apply any emotion to it, it's almost a distraction or detour. I don't hear any words spoken to me, or see anything outside of physical reality but I do get interesting scents and temperature signals. I think that is because those are more subtle and in my personal scope of symbolism, more spiritual and non-physical (and has a lovely romantic appeal to me).

When I dream, its pretty much the same. I mostly do not dream with physical aspects with the exception of glimmers of probable selves/lives (and those I get just as readily in the waking state). There usually are no things I see or touch or hear or smell or taste, etc. It's the same kind of "feel", or knowing.

So, hopefully that made some kind of sense!

Peace

Congrats Max, what a breakthrough! Something about your method seems very fluid, like flowing water eroding away weakened areas of riverbank. Cool! For me, if something I'm feeling doesn't resonate, I try to look for whatever belief is causing me to feel that way. If the belief is no longer valid in my life, then I try to let it go. One of my favorite quotes from a song is from Robbie Robertson's "Golden Feather".
"When you find out what's worth keeping,
with a breath of kindness,
blow the rest away."
