Based on a line from an ancient Chinese poem, I culled the phrase "waves roll blue" and took four years to write this three-minute song

Color and emotion and the other senses are far closer than we usually realize, and there is a name for this--"synesthesia", when a person feels a color, for example, or perceives it through another sense, and there are many people who have these kinds of experiences--awake, dreaming or in altered states of different kinds.
